Degradation of conventional and biobased plastics in soil under contrasting environmental conditions

چکیده

Plastics are essential materials, but their extensive production poses a threat to the environment. Biobased plastics provide an alternative, that reduce, in many cases, perdurability. The degradation of conventional (polyethylene (PE)/polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyamide (PA)/polypropylene (PP)- ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH)-PP) polylactic acid (PLA)-based materials was evaluated through situ manipulative experiment for one year simulating different soil scenarios. by means weight loss, differential scanning calorimetry infrared spectroscopy. Conventional showed values less than 2% loss all treatments after year. PLA-based notably enhanced at temperatures above 20 °C with high water availability, while texture minor influence. carbonyl crystallization indices, as well enthalpy fusion, detected early signs biobased confirmed loss. This study highlights can be markedly depending on environmental conditions terrestrial compartments such soil, where availability temperature more variable marine environments. Thus, certification material degradability needs linked specific compartment which has been tested. embracing scenarios carried out.

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Degradation of Ethofumesate in Soil under Laboratory Conditions

The aim of our research was to determine the influence of the soil type and adjuvants on the dynamics of ethofumesate degradation in soil. Samples of two types of soil were placed in growth chambers. Ethofumesate was applied at a rate of 800 g·ha, alone and in mixture with adjuvant based on methylated crop oil and surfactant adjuvant. Residues of ethofumesate were determined using high-performa...

Laboratory Test Methods to Determine the Degradation of Plastics in Marine Environmental Conditions

In this technology report, three test methods were developed to characterize the degradation of plastic in marine environment. The aim was to outline a test methodology to measure the physical and biological degradation in different habitats where plastic waste can deposit when littered in the sea. Previously, research has focused mainly on the conditions encountered by plastic items when float...

Adsorption of arsenic on soil under different soil moisture conditions

The adsorption study was conducted on three Japanese soils with different soil properties to characterize the adsorption pattern of Arsenic (As). Double tube method was used to find out the effect of soil moisture levels on As adsorption. For this study, besides double tube method, conventional batch method also was used. The As adsorption showed two phase kinetics. An initial and rapid adsorpt...
